Developers building Windows Phone 7 applications have had several new API releases and upgrades in the past few days to better help their apps improve.
First of all, while SkyDrive's API is still in beta, you can use this SkyDrive API package to access and send files to the service. Instead of using the comparatively unstable REST API, it uses the WebDAV protocol. SkyDrive gives users 25GB of free storage, and now you can take advantage of that to save files created on users' devices.
Also this week the Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows Phone has been updated. This project provides tooling and templates for working with Azure on WP7. In addition to the usual sample projects and tutorials, this release has more sample code, and an updated API to better reflect its desktop equivalent.
Meanwhile, Nokia World has kicked off in London, with the previously Symbian-based smartphone line expected to be swapped out for Windows Phone 7 devices. Some shots have already emerged of the up and coming phones, and developers will be hoping the devices sell well, in order to further encourage WP7 app sales.
